Summary/Response

The Flight From Conversation By Sherry Turkle

Summary: In The Flight From Conversation Sherry gives her thoughts on the use of technology in modern society. She believes that we live in a society where electronic devices limit our growth as human beings. In the beginning she gives examples of how often people use technology in everyday life. She explains that our society turns to technology to find connection instead of a face to face conversation by saying "we are tempted to think that our little sips of online connection add up to a big gulp of real conversation ". She then goes on and talks about the use of devices and a growing problems that is causing people to feel lonely and lack of face to face communication skills.  As it wraps up she gives us strategies on how to battle the technology attack by saying we should have "device-free zones".

Response: I found the article interesting. I can relate to the article because I agree when she states that almost everywhere we go somebody is on a electronic device. I think technology in a way was good and bad for us.The reason why I think it was good for us is so that you can use it for emergency purposes and the reason why I think it was bad for us is because people are more isolated. You can do almost everything online behind a computer screen rather than living in the real world  and actually doing  it but, I guess some people rather live a virtual world.
